I do not believe in anything

I looked up the definition of the word "believe" a few years back and was surprised.

Believe

accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.

After I read the definition, I questioned why should I believe in anything.

What's wrong in saying:
  • I have no clue
  • I don't know
  • I'm not sure
  • I have no freaking idea if this is true.
Why does one feel the need to believe in anything?
Why not just be open to something and until proven?
We don't need to accept anything as true, especially if there is no proof.

What are we afraid of?

I think we would all be better off if we just said "I don't know" to something we can't prove to be true.

One of the firmest or deepest beliefs people have is the concept of GOD.

The fact is, I don't know if GOD exists or not, and that depends on which definition we are talking about.  But till such time, I don't have proof, I'm happy with saying, I have no idea if there is a GOD or not.

So I now don't believe in anything.

I have concluded that the word "belief" is itself a fallacy. Whatever can be proven becomes the "truth" and there is no need for the word "belief" or "believe"

I'm not embarrassed to admit I know very little and I'm happy to learn how things work or why things are the way they are by asking, thinking, and analysing.

I'd like to propose the use of another word:

Resonate
to produce a positive feeling, emotional response, or opinion

That's a word I prefer to use instead of the word "believe" as it is closer to what most of us really mean to say.

So for some people, the idea that there is a GOD could resonate with them. And that's okay.
However, for many, it may not resonate.
Either way, no one needs to believe (accept as true without proof) that GOD exists or does NOT.

I would really love to hear your comments on this.

  1. After living at Sapna Ranch I've experienced that life has several dimensions and so does the Universe. Not everyone has or can have awareness of all the possible dimensions.

For example, Lightening has existed since the formation of the Earth. Today we call it a jolt of electricity. Tribals even today call it something else - that too from belief - let's say they call it 'the wrath of God'. They can't prove that God exists and therefore it does not mean that lightening does not exist.

Whatever is proven is based on the limited awareness and circumstances that prevail at that time. Nothing holds still forever. The speed of light changes, the earth's magnetic field changes. Even the North Star which is currently indicated by Ursa Minor will change to Vega in 13,000 years. So in 13,000 years Vega will become the North Star. So to say that Ursa Minor is the North Star is not the eternal truth. It is only true today.

The definition of truth today is very myopic. People are unwilling to think beyond the period of their lifetime. This is unfortunate.

The Universe is a constantly evolving patterns of connections of consciousness. Nothing is certain. The only thing that is true and constant is uncertainty. The sooner we embrace that the better our grasp of reality, truth and resonance will be.
